Sun, Apr 1, 2007
After Rediffmail announcing unlimited storage for all their mail accounts, Yahoo announced to convert all existing, and new email accounts to unlimited storage. Yahoo mail stated to upgrade by first week of May as it also celebrates its 10 yrs of Online services. Unlimited Storage for Yahoo mail won't be available for users in China, and Japan because of their tieup with a different company. Yahoo started its mail services with 4mb in 1997, then switched to 100mb, then to 1gb by the competetion provided by Google's Gmail provided 1gb storage initially, and then proving 2.8gb storages as of now. Google also celebrates its compleation of its 3 years on 1st April. (No special features have been anounced by Google for Gmail yet).
Gmail started with its every marked Vanila flavour pages, with simple and crisp services using AJAX. Then we saw a steep change in email providers (Yahoo, Hotmail..etc) footsteps switching to simple interfaces, more storage, live drop down contact lists, faster navigation. Although I read in many reviews that Yahoo is fastest among the mail providers, I still feel Gmail is the best when it comes to speed, and navigation. Yahoo rules by the number of subscribers because of its customers using Yahoo Messenger. Almost all the providers have increase. Whatever, as a consumer I want these people to compete more and provider better and faster services.
