Safari for Windows Now.. No Fight!!
Tue, Jun 12, 2007
Timing can’t be better again, I just made a post on Apple’s simplicity on its iPod’s ads “Apple iPod Movies in your pocket campaign“, and from one of my subscribed feeds I was surprised to see Apple’s very own web browser Safari supports windows now. Wasting no time I was taken to a download page, figuring out that my pc had no Apple Quick Time, I chose to install Safari with Quick time. 28mb clean install made me happy and feeling proud to be a small apple user on a PC. Safari not only claims hog less memory than firefox on pc, but loads 2 times faster than IE, and 1.6 times faster than firefox.. And proved itself true. Pages load much faster than existing Mozilla Firefox 2.0.4.
Safari web browser on PC

Pros :
- Simple look and feel (I feel so happy not to look at the blue bar on top).
- Really Loads Faster than Firefox, and IE. (truly 1.6 times faster than firefox).
- Supports Tab browsing (Nothing great now a days).
- Firefox & IE 7 kind integrated Google search bar (can be customized to your favorite search).
- Integrated RSS reader.
- More Reading space compared to Firefox.
Cons:
- When minimized and then maximized the browser restores down to a smaller window.. You need to click on maximize again to take over your whole screen.
- Individual tabs have close buttons on its left, Windows users are habituated to right hand side. (I accidently closed the tab sitting beside what I wanted to close).]
- RSS reader is shitty.. Unlike firefox allowing me to choose my favorite RSS reader (Google Reader in my case) Safari forces me to use only its RSS reader. Googling a little I figured out mac users had an option to choose their RSS reader.
- There is no Undo close in the menu (I cant survive without that)
- Not adaptable to Internet download Manager.
Good thing is its still in beta, so there is a large scope for apple to tailor according to Windows users.

Yes, tara.. its good for testing, but things are not ready still. The major one I figured out is it doesn’t support the Wordpress WYSIWYG editor.
